The Road to BPL
by Carol Glynn
For
2006, the Best Place to Learn team began soliciting nominees in May. The process
continued until Aug. 31, at which time, all who participated were invited to
proceed to the next step by completing a detailed questionnaire about the
learning activities within each organization, the structure of the learning
function, learning results and the commitment to learning as a strategic part of
organizational focus. Those were due in September.
In
October, the team evaluated the submissions and determined which companies
should proceed to the next step, which included onsite visits by pairs of team
members to talk with learning leaders and executives. Interviews were conducted.
final evaluations were reviewed and analyzed by the team and a winner selected
for the 2006 program.
Virginia
Wells and Cleann Cameron visited with this year’s Best Place to Learn winner.
Their article about what made the winner stand out can be found in this
issue of the newsletter.
