The April 15 meeting will feature Alvin Garcia, who will share his knowledge about FedEx Kinko’s Career Development Program. Launched in April 2006, the program serves more than 14,000 of the 18,000 eligible field team members with a blended learning approach. It was named FedEx Kinko’s Program of the Year and Team Advocacy Award winner for 2006; it was also cited by ASTD at the national level for Excellence in Practice in career development. First, I value the educational opportunities it gives me. I look to Dallas ASTD to offer programs that keep my training and development skills current. I expand my talent and contribute many fresh ideas to my employer. I share the nuggets of knowledge I take away from our programs with my training department co-workers. The opening event, the 120 yard high hurdles, had Gus Spilios and me as the two hurdlers representing our school. Before that night, we had trained with focus and we knew if we could win or place well in our two hurdling events, we would set the pace for our team and ultimately win the meet. That night my personal goal was to run my best time. Mark your calendar for August 12 & 19, 2008… It’s not too soon to be thinking about the annual Southwest Learning Summit, scheduled for either August 12 or August 19 (to be confirmed shortly). The August meeting will be a luncheon held in conjunction with the event, so plan to spend the day! It will be great...worth marking two days on your calendar! Training Activity: Best Listener Bingo by Shirley Fine Lee Are you looking for a simple activity to encourage listening during the lecture portion of a training class or information sharing session?
