March Meeting

You already know that the US business environment is a global environment, but have you seen the latest figures?  It is estimated that the average worker will have had 10 to 14 jobs by age 38, and that the top 10 jobs that will be in demand in 2010 did not exist in 2004.

Join us the evening of March 18 for an exciting discussion of future workplace trends and how these trends affect us as Workplace Learning And Performance professionals.  What do we need to be preparing right now to be ready to support the success of our organizations tomorrow?

President's Pen: CPLP and the future of our profession – from fuzzy to focused

Certification programs exist in many industries and many companies.  Increasingly, business leaders want a designation process to help define the best, the brightest, the most expert resource prepared to handle the most complex challenges in a particular field, a subject or a process.

Tipping Point or Tripping Point:

The Six Biggest Hurdles Facing Consultants and Coaches and How to Step over Them with Ease©

“In seeking wisdom thou art wise; in imagining that thou hast attained it, thou art a fool.”   --Lord Chesterfield

Having the realization that there are only 24 hours in a day, seven days in a week, and only one of you, the harsh reality sets in; you are limited in your income-producing abilities. You can only do so much before you are maxed out and hitting your ceiling in your income and growth potential. Now, what do you do?

“360 Feedback: The Power of Perspective”

“The very purpose of existence is to reconcile the glowing opinion we have of ourselves with the appalling things that other people think about us.”

Quentin Crisp

Other people see things differently than we do and often see things in ourselves that we can’t see at all.  Like when we returned from the mall one day and my wife said, “Did you have that price tag hanging on your new jacket the whole time?”   My wife’s perspective has been of tremendous value to me for 15 years of our 20 year marriage.  It took me the first 5 years to wise up, but that was my fault, not hers.

Big Book Review

Don’t let my article title scare you.  I am not writing a super-long review of a book, nor did I read a large 900+ page volume.  Instead, I am providing a quick glimpse of three of the books from the “The Big Book of Games” series I received ….

Chapter Meeting News…

A significant number of members have requested luncheon meetings, so two luncheon meetings are scheduled for later this year: August and December.

Unfortunately, meeting prices will increase as of the April 15 meeting: $35 for members and $45 for guests. The great news is that you’ll still have the convenient location, SIGs, great networking opportunities, and all the other benefits of chapter membership.

See you next week!
